A very DIY Styled Shoot

April 21, 2015

I’ve seen many styled shoots done this past year, photographers all over are doing them. I have wanted to try my hand at one for quiet some time and decided the other month to make it happen! and I started thinking.. what if I made it a DIY styled shoot? I am a TOTAL do it yourself kind of girl, I just love creating!!! so why not give it a shot? and don’t even get me started on decorating.. love love love. So I took my idea and ran with it! started planning the theme I was going for, color scheme, finding a couple to work with, shopping for decor, ect.

In all honesty, I was a little nervous. ALL the shoots that my photographer friends have put together were all professionally styled. How was I suppose to compare to that? I’m clearly no professional stylist. But thats just it, no one was asking me to be. I had to shake off that negative voice inside of me telling me it was going to be a failure before I even got my foot in the door and just do what I love and know how to do best. Create. Make it my own and make it beautiful. Thats all I really need to hold myself  to a standard of. And honestly, it was really fun putting my own spin on it- I don’t know many other photographers who have put together a DIY styled shoot so I really don’t have anything to compare it to! So why knock myself down?  Once I took the leap, It was all starting to come together. Before I knew it, it was time to shoot!  Ben and Camille were the perfect couple for what I had originally envisioned. Since their one year was coming up we decided to collaborate with the theme and make it a Picnic Anniversary shoot. ah! and boy did we have a blast!!! we had a fun springy location, with an adorable set-up, which in my opinion couldn’t have been more of a success.

Most of the decor that I didn’t make, came from Target, Home Goods or Hobby Lobby

*Shout out to Freely Collective for the custom “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” water color print that I am absolutely crazy about 🙂 Thank Rhyan! Check out the Freely Collection HERE ! they’re awesome.

Enjoy & let me know your thoughts! xo
