Alright, where are my fall style queens at? This is the time of year where my “neutral look-book” Pinterest board seems to be ever-flowing with autumn inspiration and even as a summer girlie, I have to admit: fall style, ESPECIALLY in this fall thrift fashion shoot, is really unmatched.
Kathryn is a “top tier neutral thrift queen” in my book. She has such an incredible knack for finding amazing second hand pieces and transforming them with her rad DIY’s. I am constantly inspired by her + her style. As we were sourcing location inspiration for our shoot we chose a street in Oceanside that complimented the vibe of her curated pieces so well.
It’s so important for the atmosphere to be in sync with the vibe of the subject and/or product you’re photographing. For example, when shooting lifestyle portraits for a brand I want to make sure it aligns with the goal for that campaign. The street we shot on had a plant shop, coffeeshop + curated vintage clothing shop with warm tones that was cohesive with our overall fall aesthetic.
To capture Kathryn’s thrifted capsule pieces, it was important to me that she was actually wearing the clothing and it wasn’t just a styled lay flat shot. If you’re a fashion brand reading this–> it adds life and personality to your product when your audience sees lifestyle portraits of people wearing + using your product. Remember: they have to be able to envision themselves in it too! 😉
Getting to capture lifestyle portraits that help bring brands to life is one of my favorite things! I love getting to source inspiration & tailor each shoot to compliment my client’s goals + style and helping them bring it to life! 😍🙌🏻
