The 4th and family | Boone NC

I’m on hour 3.5 of 7 as I’m typing this, headed back home and boy, is it bittersweet!!! This last week was spent with my family visiting lifelong friends in North Carolina. Every year since I was practically born we road tripped to Boone to spend the forth with these dear friends and the memories from these trips were some of my favorites: making homemade T’s for the 4th, lighting fireworks off the roof, trips to the mast general store, lake days, the adventures felt endless here..it was the BEST. But somewhere along the way we stopped coming down, the kids got older and life got busier. This year our families mutually decided it was about time to bring this tradition back! It had been almost a decade (crazy how time flies) so we packed up our bags and headed for the mountains and when we arrived it felt like we had never left..besides the fact that everyone was all grown up 😉 we spent a day on the lake, Kenzie and I became professional sailboat watchers, went bridge jumping (off a 50 ft bridge might I add), decorated flag t-shirt’s just like we use to and instead of our dads lighting fireworks off the roof, this time it was the boys turn to step up to the plate! We had more adventures in these past few days than this caption could possibly hold and I’m realizing how precious these memories really are. These are the scrapbooks we flip through and reminisce about for years to come. Friendships like these are hard to come by and absolute treasures when you find them, so I’m counting my blessings on this loooong car ride home with JT playing “can’t stop the feeling” and I’m latching onto that feeling with a tight grip and a thankful heart for the memories made and the memories to come!
