Oh Washington DC, you sure are a magical city around the holidays! ❤️🌿 I traveled back east to spend Christmas with family and to photograph one of my last shoots of 2022 with these cuties and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day for a Lincoln Memorial winter engagement. ✨ And I know what you’re probably thinking…a “perfect winter day?…is that our sunshine girl talking?!” I’m a summer girlie through and through and my entire week back was FREEZING. Like we’re talking a low of 8 degrees kind of cold. No thank you. I’m good. 😂
*However* this particular Wednesday in DC was the best weather we had all week. There was such a warm glow that felt like absolute magic that evening. I can’t help but feel gratitude swell up inside knowing we lucked out with the best golden hour glow to capture Lucy and Zach’s sweet souls! These two are absolute gems and I cannot wait for you to gush over their warm love in the city!!! Since we are talking winter shoots I thought I’d drop a few of my go-to tips to keep your portraits feeling extra cozy!
Winter shoot pro-tips
Incorporating cozy props + accessories is the name of the game!
2 ways Lucy + Zach did this and intentionally added warmth into their Lincoln Memorial winter engagement photos:
⚡️ They had warm cider to sip on that they enjoyed while sitting at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial which was sooo cute + practical. ☕️
⚡️They also brought their fav knit blanket! This layered the warmth while also making their portraits feel extra cozy & personalized. 🥰
