intimate fall wedding at willow brook

Almost a month has passed and I still catch myself thinking about this special day. I’ve met a lot of people through my job but I haven’t met many like these two. Mike and Marie are light to any dim space, a hug (or special handshake) making just about anyone feel like the most important person in the room. They are life-givers in every sense of the word and always leave you more energized then you came. I first met Mike and Marie at their engagement session around this time last year. We shot at an apple orchard on Carters Mountain in Charlottesville, Virginia and within the first 15 minutes they had me laughing so hard I was crying. At one point in the session I remember checking the time and realizing ” oh my goodness we have 20 minutes until closing, we better start shooting”😂  That memory feels like such an accurate example of time with these two…you can so easily get lost in good conversation and laughter that you lose track of time. Spoiler to that story: we pretty much shot 70% of their portrait gallery in those final 20 minutes before getting kicked off the mountain and you would never be able to tell looking at their gallery which I find so hilarious.

When I arrived to Willow Brook there was such a peace that filled the crisp fall air. The groom and his groomsmen were having a good time playing lawn games, while the girls got all glammed up. With the nature of wedding days there is *usually* one part of the day that is a little more stressful than the rest. You kind can kind of just plan for that!

However, this day was different.  It started on a high note and ended on a high note. There was such a calming joy woven into the fabric of this day-long celebration that there really was no room for stress. It was a day that kind of like magic ✨

a sneak peek of my favorites moments:

👉🏻Marie crying in excitement when I showed up in the beginning of the day (!!) what did I do to deserve you girl?! you are such a soul sister❤️

👉🏻While Mike and Marie were praying before the ceremony, Marie unexpectedly hands Mike a burrito and it was kind of the best thing ever😂

👉🏻During their ceremony they planted a tree together 🌿

👉🏻Last but not least, for their reception entrance they reenacted the scene from the office and it was nothing short of epic!

this was the funniest moment hanging with the guys. I asked them if they had any fun photo shots in mind and they all just turned towards each other and gave the head nod like they knew exactly what to do and within seconds they were holding hands and counting down for this masterpiece of a picture and I still can’t get over it
