“Am I in charge of finding a portrait location or is that my photographers job??”

If you’ve ever wondered how this process works, you’re definitely not alone friend!

👉🏻the truth is: some of my clients are seeking out guidance + looking to me for inspiration and want me to be more hands-on in guiding them throughout their portrait experience 💃 while others come ready with a clear vision of what they are looking for and have a detailed game plan already mapped out. there honestly isn’t a “right” or “wrong” way of doing things, for me, it’s more about navigating:

📍what are my clients needs?
📍how can I help bring their vision to life?

💫One way I do this is through a pre-shoot questionnaire that my clients fill out after booking. It creates space to hear their vision, learn their vibe + personality, see if they have a location in mind and if not I give them style categories so that I can create a list of locations that are tailored to their personal style!

2 of the most important Q’s to ask yourself when considering if a location is a good fit for you:

—> will I feel comfortable in this space? and does this space compliment my style?

for example: if you dread the thought of people passing by you during your shoot *maybe* choosing a location in the city isn’t your perfect match 😉

when you pick a space that makes you feel LIKE YOURSELF + free 🕊 it will automatically set the tone for creating portraits that naturally reflect that!

The location we shot at for Lauren’s session complimented her style + personality so well and the overall vibe she was seeking out for her senior portraits so I thought it would be the perfect shoot to showcase as an example. Scroll through favs from our session this fall!
